On Monday, June 21, our big event was to take the submarine "Aquarius 1" for it's trip from Keilua. The trip leaves from the big dock in downtown Keilua. As we approached the dock that morning, I took this shot looking south. The condo is one bay beyond the big, light-colored resort building.

The bay almost always has someone up in the air doing "parasailing". We did that later, but I took this shot of our first live glimpse of what it looked like.

Here we are in the submarine. the lighting is sunlight filtered through the water and windows. It gets bluer, the deeper the sub gets. On this trip the sub goes about 120 ft down. These subs are built in Vancouver BC. They are electric. They don't use their engines for travelling, except when at the bottom. They tow them out with a fresh charge of batteries each morning. The other important item is air recyclers, which absorb the CO2, and replenish the O2.

We got seated near the stern of the sub. This shot looks forward from there.

At this point the hatch has just been shut, and we are really still at the surface, so this looks up from the window, past the shuttle boat we just got off of to the surface.

Then we go down and start looking at the bottom.
