highlights 2001 lake trip

We spent 3 weeks at/travelling to lake. First week we hung out, and started repair jobs on windows/screens, water pump,... Second week we spent with the Guzallises. Third week we did more visiting with Fergusons and finished projects -- new boat cover, painting deck, ... Weather was nice mix of sunshine, heat, and cool. Had about 4 days in a row when it took a fan at night to be comfortable! On those days it tood 2 to 4 swims in the lake to keep comfortable through the day. Black fly season started after the heat, but was really only bad on the north side of the island on the one day we went around the island. We now have the water system ready for a few more years' service. Will add a 100 gallon intermediate storage tank next year. Have a 500 gallon propane tank again. It got installed on the dike, so we'll need a 10 foot extension pipe to reach it, Will not need more gas until we retire or come up in the winter. Roof showed no sign of leaking over winter, and also during the several days of heavy night thunderstorms while we were there. Even though it has lost a few shingles, and been patched, I think it will last until we decide if we will add 2nd story. Re-stained porch and siding under windows. Need to decide what to do about siding -- maybe replace stuff above deck with T-1-11? This year was the experiment with wireless phones and internet. Works for limited use, and makes Palm into even nicer toy to read/write/send/receive email and limited web browsing, but before we retire we'll need to go back to a land line.
