| DSCF0477 | The story we were told is that this area was repaired before they learned how to translate the Mayan symbols. They used shape to guess where the stones went. Then they learned how to translate and figured out that the stones (which each has a symbol on it) were in the wrong order. But, rather than tear it down to put it right, they left it as is. But they have an image in a computer somewhere that puts the blocks in the right order for reading. |  Original Image |
